I'd estimate about 500 very chilly people were there in Dag
Hammarskjold Plaza, East 47th Street and First Avenue. Many young people came,
including some who bussed in from Philadelphia.

This couple said they wished the event was a march so they
could keep warm. It was very, very cold. I had a hard time keeping the camera
steady from my shivering.
These drummers are made of sterner stuff than I, they knelt
and kept a steady beat for the entire event, and their clothes don't look
half as warm as mine. It was 12 degrees with a cutting breeze that made it
feel even colder.
This man is the son of a victim of the trade-center collapse,
who says "Not In Our Name." The UN looms in the background.
