Waverly Place heading to Washington Square Park at the end of the march. It's a composite made up of several stills. If you see yourself twice you may not be imagining it. Click each image for a larger version.
The march with the Flatiron and Empire State buildings in the background. In the larger version of the Flatiron photo you can see three of the helicoptes that hovered above like annoying gnats for the entire march.
This drumming troupe had the most energizing music in the march. They never stopped.
I think this group was organized by their church. | I brought a drum along with me, and often
joined in with the drummers in this lively group. (El Puente Academy and
the Brooklyn Peace Coalition) |
I stuck my camera up on top of my sign pole and set the auto-timer to get this shot. It's really hard to tell the size of the crowd from ground level. But this march was huge. I hear it densely occupied Broadway from Fiftieth Street to Waverly place for three hours. | One of my favorite memories is of all the (mostly) kids scurrying to quickly chalk peace messages on the ground, all along the route. |
Two elder patriots for peace.

Lots of youthful energy in the march.

Lots of great signs. |
